Most driver services screen for whether someone can drive. We screen for that, and then for whether we would hand them our own car keys.
Every applicant goes through this
- Identity and right to workWe confirm who they are and that they are permitted to work in Australia. No document, no application.
- Licence and driving historyA current, unrestricted Australian licence, and a driving record we are willing to stand behind. Recent serious offences end the application.
- National police checkA criminal-history check through the accredited process. Certain results are an automatic no, with no discretion applied.
- Interview, in personA conversation with a member of our team. Plenty of people pass every check on paper and are still not right to put in a customer’s car at midnight.
- Practical driveThey drive, we assess. Smoothness, judgement, hazard awareness, and how they treat a vehicle that is not theirs.
- Rated after every single tripCustomers rate their driver out of five and can leave written feedback. We read all of it.
- Held to it, continuouslyRatings and feedback are reviewed. A driver whose standard slips is retrained or removed. Screening is re-run as required.
A note on numbers. Some services in this industry advertise that only a small percentage of applicants make it through. We would rather tell you exactly what we check and let you judge it, than publish a statistic you cannot verify.
What we expect on the night
- Completely sober. A zero-alcohol, zero-drug rule applies for the whole of a shift. There is no version of this job where that is negotiable.
- Presentable and courteous. Neat, on time, and not making conversation you did not ask for.
- Discreet. What a driver sees and hears in your car stays there, unless safety or the law requires otherwise.
- Lawful. Within the speed limit, in your car, on your insurance. A driver may refuse anything unsafe or unlawful, and we back them when they do.
- Careful with your vehicle. It is usually the second most valuable thing a customer owns.
If something goes wrong
Tell us. Every trip is rated, every message is on the record, and every incident is investigated. If a driver makes you feel unsafe or disrespected, end the trip, get somewhere safe and contact us immediately — that is a reason we remove people, and we do.
Where our driver is at fault for damage to your car, we contribute towards your insurance excess. The detail is in section 7 of our terms.
Want to drive with us?
We are always looking for careful, professional drivers who would rather be trusted with a customer’s own car than shuttle strangers around in theirs. Read what the job involves and apply on the driver page.
